Personal profile

Interior design has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I love to be creative and I am very enthusiastic whilst working on every project. I'm mature and responsible, and would like to take my passion to a professional level, which is a degree course. To improve my drawing skills I am reading a book by Betty Edwards "Drawing on the right side of the brain". I'm also, during the summer break, going to learn more about perspective drawing to be more prepared for this course. I really enjoy taking part in exhibitions and seminars. In January 2010 I went to Birmingham where I had the opportunity see the Decorex "Interiors 2010" exhibition and I also took part in Kelly Hoppen's seminar. I spend a lot of my free time on the internet looking at what is happening in the field and I especially enjoy reading specialist magazines and books in this subject.
It is my dream to complete postgraduate education, and go on to work for myself as a freelance interior designer. I believe that my passion, motivation and determination will benefit from further education and my dream will come true.

The portfolio presented below is a selected projects of mine which I worked on for the last 10 months.

Loft Room

This a compilation of my work to produce a design for a loft room. I was briefed to create a space for a young interior designer- a place for her to work and be inspired.

Bedroom with ensuite wet room

Bedroom Project showing my progression from rough design to finished colour board.

Cushions and Pattern design

Coordinated cushions using Kath Kidston fabrics, produced using an international theme and my pattern design presented on satin fabric produced using screen printing.

Wood Graining

I particulary liked the look of the knotted pine effect, produced using water-based paints and specialist brushes.

Marbling

To achieve the effect of marble onto a prepared wooden surface,I have used oil paints and gilp, with sponges and softener brush.

Visual Texture Exercises

Early on experimental line-work using mixed media and acrylics to show visual texture.
